Thank  you for visiting our website, this page is dedicated to our father Louis Brown also known as Louis Polliman Brown. Our father was born in Alexandria Louisiana in 1918. His parents were Charlotte Gibson who was from a small town outside Marksville and Reverend James Brown from Pineville Louisiana. 

Our father was one of eight children with three brothers; Truddo, Freddie and James Junior. His sisters were Laura, Beatrice, Olivia, and Doll. At an early our father Louis was said to be an outside person and would often be seen camping out in the back yard. He was also said to have left Louisiana at age 16 and ended up living in Mexico for seven years . After leaving Mexico he went to California where he was inducted in the army. 

Upon his return to Louisiana he met Ruthie Mae Dorty,one of the youngest of fifteen children whom he married in 1941. Within a year of their marriage their first child Louis Junior was born. Louis Senior was transferred back to California and stationed at Fort Ord in Monterrey Bay California where Ruth followed.

A year and a half later, a second child Kay was born in Northern California. Sometime after her birth Louis located to Los Angeles where he started his acting career. Ruth once again followed and within a year the third child Michael was born. Four years later Robert Lee; the youngest was born.

During Louis acting career he worked on several movies with some of the biggest stars and celebrities of his day. Louis Brown was one of Alexandria Louisiana's  first African American actors.  The actors he worked with were Robert Mitchem, Susan Hayward, Walter Slezak, Tyrone Power and Joan Crawford. 

The movies he played in were White Witch Doctor(1953) where he played the Councilman, Untamed where he was portrayed as Bani in 1953, Fandango, Ramar of the Jungle where he played Jemma in 1953. He also played one episode of Adventures in Paradise that aired in 1961.  Louis Brown passed September 7, 1967.
